What motivates you to mentor creatives?
What’s your current role and origin story as a creative?
As a kid, I was always into computers and artistic things like drawing and music. As I got older, I began to spend more time with creative software like the Adobe products. I saw the ease and quickness in which you could create beautiful things and I was intrigued. That led me to seeking out a way in which I could do it more frequently. I ended up finding graphic design position in a printshop, and that started my quest to design and create artistic expression.
What creative work(s) are you the proudest of?
This was the first logo that I did where I sketched out my idea, and used it to create a vector version. I’m proud of it, because I followed sketches, which hadn’t/hasn’t been a process I’d utilized consistently. Simplicity and a powerful meaning gave me pride as well.
What’s your current “creative studio”/desk setup like?
My creative space is anywhere that keeps me focused and energized. Because that changes regularly and because I use my laptop for creative work, I don’t have a set place. I may sit in 7 different places to be creative in a week or even a day. It’s all about the vibe and project for me.
Where do you go to get inspired?
I get really inspired when I’m in a small semi-messy room, weirdly enough. I find a ton of inspiration while I’m driving, because I get to ruminate on and incubate ideas in my head.
Do you have a ritual, or time of day that unleashes your creative powers?
I like to meditate to start my day so that I can clear my head of dream state. I also like using work cycles to complete many different projects and tasks. That process eases the overwhelm when I have a lot to complete.
What’s an album that changed your life?
I am a huge Blink-182 fan, it’s a nostalgic thing. As a teenage musician, they were instrumental (pun intended 😆), in my growth as a guitarist and bassist. Because music was a catalyst to further explore art and creativity, this band was part of that curiosity and desire to learn more.
